YAG, short for Yttrium Aluminum Garnet, has the chemical formula Y3Al5O12, which is a composite oxide formed by the reaction of Y2O3 and Al2O3. It belongs to cubic crystal system and has a garnet structure. The garnet cell can be seen as a network of dodecahedrons, octahedrons and tetrahedrons.
